CHI 2011 PROGRAM TO DRAW FROM WIDE VARIETY OF DISCIPLINESThe CHI 2011 Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems will focus on leveraging diversity with papers and presentations spanning a wide range of disciplines. Gestural and tactile interfaces, Twitter, homeless users, crowdsourcing, microblogging, user experiences in India and China, and distributed work are just some of the topics. CHI seeks to bring together the design, engineering, management, and user experience communities so that they can connect and share ideas. Additional featured communities are Child-Computer Interaction; Games and Entertainment; Health; and Sustainability. The opening plenary speaker is social media pioneer Howard Rheingold, and the closing plenary speaker is Ethan Zuckerman, a fellow of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, whose work focuses on the impact of technology on the developing world.
